On Monday evening (17th March 2025), two significant posts appeared online. First was this one:
Later on at 10am Oliver Holt published this article in the Daily Mail:
I quote:
“Judging by the sheer grandiosity of his pronouncements, City’s general counsel, Simon Cliff, seems to believe he actually runs English football now. Maybe he actually does run English football. He certainly seems to have Richard Masters, the Premier League’s rather beleaguered chief executive, right where he wants him.”
All I remember Simon Cliff stating was that City had won the APT case not the Premier League, (which was the complete opposite of what Richard Masters was claiming). Simon Cliff has since been proven to be right on this point.
He goes on to say:
“Cliff is a faintly Musk-ish figure, who appears to be fond of shouting the odds and calling the shots. He tells the other 19 Premier League clubs what is legal and what is illegal and when to fall in line and when to disobey. The impression he gives is very much that City run English football now.”
If that is not bordering on defamation I do not know what is, who is Oliver Holt to think he can describe someone he doesn’t know in this way?
I think Oliver Holt knows the verdict and is now trying to create a narrative that the case itself is bad for football. He has tweeted also today :
Are City fans like me that influential?
I am sure we will find out more tomorrow, but for now a few videos to help with the day:
The case explained better than any journalist or football pudit ever did….
And basically this is what we are up against….
and another…what I think of Daniel Levy….
and one more for good measure just showing how corrupt the Premier League really are…:
